I really can't seem to upload the 2 other videos that I have shown to the class (observation made during the discovery lesson on 16 July lesson). But I trust that all of you were paying close attention to how the magnet flip/spins when we rotate the other magnet on a different side.

Notice how the iron filings rearrange along the lines of the magnetic field (recall that magnetic field is invisible, so we use iron filings to "see" the magnetic field lines). Here's another video:

What can you conclude about the magnet's magnetic attraction?

Do you now know why the magnet's magnetic attraction is the weakest between its 2 poles?

So looking back at the discovery lesson and the Monster Lodestone video, can you explain about magnetic forces? Why does the magnet spins/flips/moves left & right when another magnet is brought close to it?

Remember to complete your mindmap on Magnets. If you want to try out drawing the magnetic field drawings based on the video, that would be even better.

I have returned Maths files today with Chapters 10, 11 and 13 from the workbook inside. Please sign Chapters 10 and 11. Use all the worksheets (including the heuristics) as revision for the upcoming Maths test on 4 August 2014. There are still a few more worksheets which will be given back next week for revision.

Learning Journey to the Zoo

Hi all,

We had a learning journey to the zoo today. Besides having fun looking at different animals in the zoo, the students learnt a lot about many different invertebrates at the Fragile Forest. Yu Xi even managed to take part in a show.

Welcome back to school in Term 3. Glad to hear that many of you had a good time with your families during the June holidays. 

It will be an exciting term ahead. Work hard and you will reap its rewards.
