Creating your own Toondoo - Magnets! (updated: 14/8)

Hello children,

As promised, here is a sample of the comic strip I'd created:

You do not have to use the same background or characters, but the contents in the speech bubble must be the same for your first frame, as that's my question for you.

There must be a minimum of 3 frames in total. Of course you're welcome to do more if you like. Do refer to the concept map in your NSB and make this comic strip more comprehensive. Use keywords/scientific terms you've learnt so far. Take this as your reflection/revision on what you'd learnt in part 1 of magnets.

Remember to make your characters talk to each other. A suggestion: Maybe you would like to make a character that has a certain reasoning but it is not entirely correct. Then, the other character will correct him/her. Do make your comic strip as interesting as possible!

NOW, LET'S GET STARTED! Click here.

Step 1: Sign up for an account. It's free! (You need to have an email account. You may use your parent's email account if you do not have one at the moment. Do remember to ask your parents though!)

Step 2: Go to the heading "Toons", and click the sub-heading "Create Toon".

Step 3: Select layout. Do remember to select a layout that has a minimum (at least) of 3 frames.

Step 4: Start toondoo-ing! Have fun creating your own comic strip!

Step 5: Save your comic strip if you have a printer at home.

Step 6: Give a title to your Toon, e.g. "Magnets". You may choose to add keywords (just like in KF, when you save your notes)

Step 7: Click "Go to Page".

Step 8: You will see your completed comic strip. Print your comic strip if you have a printer at home (click on the printer icon at the bottom).

If you do not have a computer at home, you may send your saved file to yeo_eunice@moe.edu.sg. (At the bottom, click the mail icon (Send this toondoo to friends)).
However, just to let you know that I can only help you to print in black & white.

Deadline: Tuesday, 19 August

I look forward to your comic strip on Magnets! (:

Maths homework

Hi all,

You have been assigned 4 Maths assignments to do in McOnline. Please ensure that you complete them over the long weekend. You can start doing the homework from tomorrow, 14 Aug 2014, onwards.

Also, remember to complete Practice 5 of the fractions chapter from the workbook.

Here are some golden rules that will help you in comparing fractions:
- When the denominators are the same, look at the numerator. The one with the biggest numerator is the biggest fraction.
- When the numerators are the same, look at the denominator. The one with the biggest denominator is the smallest fraction.

Always imagine the fractions as slices in a pizza.

You can also try playing this game:

Science Alternate Assessment (AA): Growing Kang Kong plants!

Hello 3A,

Here are some pictures to help you recap what we have done so far for our AA - Growing our own Kang Kong plants!

PSST: Do you remember the importance of Hydroponics Farm in Singapore?

Placing the seeds inside the styroform > transport it to our very own EDP green house >
germination starts!

STOP & THINK: What are the requirements for a seed to germinate? Are they the same of an adult plant?
EDP greenhouse. Thank you to my little helpers for helping me transport the seeds there!

3A pupils getting all excited in filling up the boxes with tap water.
Do remember to check the water level in the box regularly! Top up as and when it's needed.

Adding nutrients in a 50-50 ratio to the tap water! Afterall, it's a SOILESS type of planting! (:

Getting all ready for the individual styrofoam cube to be placed into the small pots!

After 1 week...look at how fast our seedlings are growing! :D

Groups measuring the plant's height and length of leaves for Day 1 (7 Aug, Thurs)

Love it when 3A pupils work together collaboratively!

Do remember to add in your group's name (in short forms/acronyms will do)
e.g. Pikachu group > P
Do remember to record your observations down carefully!
I will be creating a new view for Plants in KF soon. Do post up your observations and questions concerning the germination process and/or growth of the plant.
