  2. Yes, I'm amazed at the thousands of babies reproduced at one time too!

    Some food for thought: Why do some animals have such a high reproductive rate (like the seahorse!) while other animals reproduced to one or a few at one time?

    I think you have sort of guess the answer to that already, Yu Xi (:

  5. Because for those animals which lays lots of eggs, most of the eggs would probably be eaten by other animals or will die shortly after hatching. That's why the animal would lay more eggs to ensure that there would be some of them who would survive and ensure the continuity of its species and for those who reproduced one or a few babies, they probably have a higher chance of living.

  6. i think the seahorses lay so many eggs at once because of survival. Many baby seahorses will die so there will be some left to live until they are adults then they can reproduce.
